Living with his Irish wife in Dublin, JJ manages to blend Dutch directness with Irish warmth. He is described as a loyal friend with a sense of humour and a familyman who is fiercely proud of his three children. He is the chairman of the Dutch Irish Business Association, which works closely with the Netherlands Embassy in Ireland. He enjoys travelling, which is just as well as he finds himself in Ireland, the Benelux and the Nordics all the time. Business regularly requires him to go all over EMEA, North America and elsewhere. JJ speaks Dutch and English fluently and has a good command of both French and German.
